HK Jun’08 - The Last Night
[HK Cultural Centre]
Our last full day in HK and we really went full gear ahead.
Amy recommended Dim Sum at Chao Inn located in One Peking near Harbour City. The restaurant has a great view of Hong Island and you can even see the iconic building on the Peak.
[Chao Inn @ One Peking]
[Modern teahouse with empty bird cages]
[This is only half of what we ordered]
Our table was filled with 250HKD worth of dim sum and was probably the most dim sum two persons could ever eat. We managed to eat everything except two char siew baos….太饱了!
After such a heavy breakfast, we strolled to the star ferry terminal. We paid a really small fee for the upper deck of the ferry that transported us to Hong Kong Island. It was also the best chance to snap HK Exhibition Centre as the ferry approached closer.
[HK Exhibition Centre]
The ferry docks near the exhibition centre but is nowhere near MTR station. YB and I weren’t sure what bus to take so decided to walk quite a fair bit to the nearest MTR station.
We headed towards Causeway Bay for shopping and found ourselves in the midst of Filipino weekend gathering ground. -.-”
Anyway, all I cared was shopping and went into Island Beverly (located next to Laforet) for a round until we met up with my cousin who resides in HK. She usually does her shopping in Mongkok area where things are relatively much cheaper. We left Hong Kong Island and were brought into a mall near to Prince Edward MTR station.
I didn’t take note the name of the mall but it was a insignificant looking place that has many shops hidden within. I definitely know where to shop next time I’m in HK! Oh by the way, this was where we began our 6 hours of non stop shopping ^0^
My cousin brought us to one mall to another until I felt completely tired and yearned for a place to rest. It was 6pm and we took on a bazaar along Fa Yuen Street near to Mong Kok. YB and I had own time together until we meet up with my cousin 2 hours later.
[Cocount Milk]
We found lots of food and tried this drink stall with exceptionally long queue. It is famous for coconut milk but it just tasted like honeydew sago without the honeydew and sago…hahahaha do you get what I mean?
In my opinion, 2 hours of bazaar shopping was INSUFFICIENT! I really enjoyed the good and cheap stuffs :P
It was 8pm but we were not heading for dinner yet…Strange but since YB and I were well fed from morning it was no big deal. My cousin just continued to bring us to another place to shop (again).
Just before 9pm. We finally arrived at the restaurant 稻香 for dinner but there was a long queue. Apparently food is much cheaper on Sundays after 9pm. Guess what we will be having? Cantonese Steamboat!!!
[稻香@MongKok]
I love this part of the dinner where I get to mix different ingredients to customise my dipping sauce. Yum Yum!
[8 ingredient to mix with soya sauce]
[The masterpiece]
In Singapore, steamboats are buffet style but here in Hong Kong we only order and pay for what we want. The choices available were unusual compared to our regular steamboat menu.
[Sheng Geng]
For example, Sheng Geng is usually found all soaked up in cans. For the first time I saw its original state (see picture). No idea what am I talking about? Go check out the canned food section next time.
[Daddy's Wine]
The splendid dinner ended with a free bottle of red wine because it was Father’s Day. Money well spent indeed! Oh it was about 20SGD per head.
Some last minute shopping and headed back to hotel to pack our luggage. Awfully small place to pack so much stuffs! :P
Next morning we checked out and boarded A21 to the airport. We got off a stop early and had to walked from T1 to T2. Please take note to go through the gates early because if you travelling on budget airline….1) immigrations 2) check belongings 3) take monorail to boarding gate and finally 4) take bus to aircraft.
WTH! No wonder Singapore has the best airport *Proud*
Anyway, YB and I returned to SG with sweet memories =)
